Lucia Gaspar is a promotora who works within the San Luis Valley. In early January, covid-19 cases were spiking across the state, and a counselor from a school in Alamosa County had sent out an email stating that the school would be on quarantine. She was reaching out to the promotaras to ask if they could provide some food bags, and the San Luis Valley team was able to assemble and deliver five food bags to the school. They were able to give these food bags to two larger families and one small family and helped a total of 24 people with this delivery. Afterwards, the counselor expressed gratitude for the promotoras work as she had been worried that some of the kids would not have enough food throughout the quarantine period because their families had been struggling. Upon hearing this, Lucia offered future aid if any of the families needed another food bag in order to make it through the quarantine period.
