Low-Income Students

Alamosa County, San Luis Valley

This story comes from promotora Lucia Gaspar, who works in the San Luis Valley region of Colorado. In early January, she was informed that a group of very low-income students living in out in the country part of Alamosa County needed supplies. Even though the promotoras were working on the opposite of the valley, Lucia was able to call Zoila, another promotora to see if she could help deliver supplies before 4 pm since the kids would be getting on the bus to go home at that time. Luckily Zoila was available and had all of the bags and kits ready to go, and the school counselor was immensely grateful that the kids would be going home with food and care kits.
