This story comes from promotora Rebecca Castillo, who works within the Southeast region. In Prowers County, there is a food pantry that the promotoas had been working with, and they hoped to take a more hands-on role when it came to packing and distributing food to people that use the food pantry as well as those in the agricultural community. After a transparent conversation with the owners about the wants and needs of both communities, the owners were happy to hear that the promotoras were willing to help out. This is important because as Rebecca explained, access to the food pantry is a necessity for many people and it is a great help to them because they do not need to worry about paying for bread, vegetables, or canned goods.
