This story is centered around the topic of accessibility to transportation. Many of the agricultural workers have missed their appointments to the doctor or immigration court because they did not have a vehicle. On the north side of Colorado in November 2021 promotora Rosalinda Garcia Vazquez helped with various activities and events for the agricultural workers. She made calls, sent text messages, messaged on WhatsApp, made contactless food box deliveries and in-person at their workplace or a farm. One worker from one of the farms where Rosalinda delivered food boxes at told her that the work she did was beautiful and was grateful towards all of the people who came to give them things because no one gives them anything, only them. Rosalinda also visited workers at their homes. The workers she encountered were from places like Honduras, Nicaragua, and Mexico. One of the workers that the promotora was able to help is someone who did not have transportation and needed to go to the doctor. She took an agricultural worker to Denver for her medical appointment so that she could begin her physical therapy that she needed due to an accident she had at work. The accident had occurred 5 months ago, and she had been kicked by a cow and was barely beginning her physical therapy. When they got to the worker’s appointment, they were 5 minutes late and the clinic did not want to see them because the translator had left already. They were late due to the heavy traffic, and they were also trying to find the right address, so they ended up running into two different buildings trying to find the clinic. The receptionist felt compassionate towards them and called back the translator that would help translate what the doctor would tell the worker. This worker needed help with transportation to get to her doctor’s appointment, navigating the hospital and translation services.

Rosalinda was also able to help another agricultural worker to get medication for her son. She took the medication to the worker’s home so that the gum infection could stop, and they could remove the tooth that was hurting the son. Not only do we see that needs and struggles those agricultural workers face but we also see all the work and effort that the promotoras do to help them.
