During September 2021 in the north part of Colorado, promotora Rosalinda Garcia Vazquez went to events and was involved in activities that interacted with agricultural workers and their families from places like Nicaragua, Honduras, and Mexico. She also communicated with the workers via WhatsApp, text messages, or called the workers from this area. Due to her effort and communication, she was able to learn about the situation of a particular agricultural worker. One of the workers from Latin America worked in a dairy farm and was hurt during work and was obligated to continue working despite the injury. After a few days they let him go from his job with no reasoning as to why they fired him. The worker let Rosalinda know that apparently the employer told him that they did not need him anymore since he was old, and they wanted to only employ young people. Not only was this worker let go from his work, but he was also evicted from his home since they would also rent him a house besides offering a job. Even though the home he rented was in a deplorable condition it was still his home. This worker was not only injured but he lost his job and home as well. This agricultural worker’s experience shows us that agricultural workers need to be informed about their workers’ rights so that this does not happen to others. Agricultural workers also needed referrals from legal services, and they have requested appointments for renewal procedures at the consulate.

Besides needing help with legal issues and their rights they also need clothing. With the help of Lucia Olivas, who is one of the organizers of this area, the agricultural workers were able to receive donations of clothing from a food bank in Ft. Lupton. Thanks to the food bank, promotoras were able to continue handing out clothing to 23 workers that they found awake since many of them had different working hours. Since workers had different work hours, the promotoras tried to visit them during different hours of the day so that they could choose what items they needed and would be useful to them. Not only do the promotoras take donations to the agricultural workers but they also take the time to listen to their experiences and the injustices they may face.
