00:17.750 --> 00:34.700

00:36.570 --> 01:07.050
[Promotora] Ok, vamos a empezar.

01:07.500 --> 01:49.000
[Promotora] Ok.

01:50.000 --> 02:06.000
[Promotora] Ok. ¿Por qué trabajas aquí en Colorado? ¿Qué te trae por aquí?
[Trabajador] Familiares.

02:06.500 --> 02:51.000
[Promotora] Ok.

02:51.700 --> 03:00.000
[Promotora] Ok.
[Promotora] Ok, gracias.
[Trabajador] Hasta luego.

[Promotora] Hello, my name is Laura Salinas. I am a Promotora of North Region 3 of Yuma, Eckley and Wray Colorado. We are working on the Project Protect from FrontLine Farming; we are trying to reach out to state legislators to help agricultural people.

00:17.750 --> 00:34.700
[Promotora] We have some bills to pay sick days, increase wages and many other things. Is it okay if I ask you a few questions?
[Worker] Yes, that's fine.

00:36.570 --> 01:07.050
[Promotora] Ok, let's start. Can you tell me a bit, excuse me, tell me a little about what it's like to work in Colorado, as an agricultural worker?
[Worker] Yes, the truth is that it is a bit of a difficult job. Because, well, we are always exposed to changes in the weather, and it is not a job that really pays very well.

01:07.500 --> 01:49.000
[Promotora] Ok. What's so difficult about working with farmer… Colorado farmers, in Colorado farms? What do you think causes these difficulties?
[Worker] Well I think it is … You know, we put in many hours, so like the season we work, we work for a long time and they don't pay us overtime. We don't have vacation days and because of the weather, it's also a bit difficult that we work long, long hours without getting paid for extra time - overtime.

01:50.000 --> 02:06.000
[Promotora] Ok. Why do you work here in Colorado? What brings you here?
[Worker] Family. I have relatives who came here before me and it was already through them that I can come here, to work as well.

02:06.500 --> 02:51.000
[Promotora] Ok. If you could have 60 seconds to speak directly to the leguil... sorry, state legislators, what would you say to them?
[Worker] Well, I would tell them that I would like them to help us as farmers in the way that, well, for example: get paid for overtime, what did they give us… that we had a little more rights and that they pass some law or something that will help us, like, for example: As an immigrant, if they could help us with a work permit or something else like that.

02:51.700 --> 03:00.000
[Promotora] Ok. Do you want to remain anonymous, or do you want to say your name?
[Worker] Yes, I would like to remain anonymous, please.
[Promotora] Ok, thanks.
[Worker] See you later.
