"This thanksgiving I gave thanks for the hands that collect our food."

I wanted to share an amazing time my family and I had with the Mountain Fresh H2A Workers. My mother works with all of them sorting out onions. But this event was a little more special for me than others. We often use Thanksgiving to be grateful for the Food we have, the house we live in or our family members. This thanksgiving I gave thanks for the hands that collect our food. We often are thankful for the farmer but not the workers. It was amazing to enjoy this holiday with them and eat with them as most of them never celebrate such holiday. A Holiday that should revolve around them. End of Harvest as the dictionary describes yet they continue to work for most of the winter until end of December, some come back in January. My family, my mother, my brother, my husband and my daughters they all saw where these gentleman live, their conditions and the humble personalities they have. It brought my daughter a new perspective in her small person, it also brought my husband a little more respect for the work I, as his wife, do for our workers. It brought my mother pride to see that even though her daughter is not longer in the field working alongside with her. I continue to advocate for them in general. I am Thankful, for my role, my roots, my family and Promotora Network.

Quería compartir un estupendo recuerdo que tuvimos mi familia y yo con los trabajadores H2A de Mountain Fresh. Mi mamá trabaja con todos ellos clasificando cebollas. Pero este acontecimiento para mí fue un poco más especial que otros. A menudo aprovechamos el Día de Acción de Gracias para dar gracias por la comida que tenemos, por la casa en la que vivimos o por los miembros de nuestra familia. Este Día de Acción de Gracias di gracias por las manos que recogen nuestros alimentos. Con frecuencia estamos agradecidos por el agricultor pero no por los trabajadores. Fue estupendo disfrutar de esta festividad con ellos y comer con ellos ya que la mayoría de ellos nunca celebran esta festividad. Un día festivo que debería girar en torno a ellos. El fin de la cosecha, como lo describe el diccionario, y aún así continúan trabajando durante la mayor parte del invierno hasta el fin de diciembre y algunos regresan en enero. Mi familia, mi madre, mi hermano, mi esposo y mis hijas, todos ellos, vieron donde viven estos caballeros, sus condiciones y las humildes personalidades que poseen. Esto trajo a mi hija una nueva perspectiva a su pequeña personita, también trajo a mi esposo un poco más de respeto por el trabajo que yo, como su esposa, hago por nuestros trabajadores. Esto hizo que mi madre se sintiera orgullosa al ver que, aunque su hija ya no trabaja en el campo a su lado, continúa abogando por ellos en general. Estoy agradecida por mi rol, mis raíces, mi familia y la Red Promotora.
